Centre Chet Holmgren is set to miss the next eight to 10 weeks after undergoing treatment to address a small patellar tendon tear, the team announced Friday.
It’s unclear how Holmgren suffered the injury, but he missed the Thunder’s last two games against the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks on Monday and Wednesday, respectively.
Prior to sitting out, Holmgren had endured a slow start to the season offensively, averaging only 12 points a game — a career-low — but had posted 9.3 rebounds and three blocks in three games.
The 24-year-old former No. 2 pick has dealt with injuries throughout his career. He missed his entire rookie year with a foot issue, and played only 32 games in the 2024-25 regular season before helping the Thunder to their first NBA Championship.
Holmgren joins a growing list of injured Thunder players, as guard Cason Wallace (torn labrum) and wing Jalen Williams (fibula fracture and dislocated ankle) are set to miss the majority of the season recovering from severe injuries.
