With the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline approaching fast, the rumors are only going to intensify. For the New England Patriots, Christian Barmore is one player to keep an eye on.
The sixth-year defensive tackle is reportedly available for trade should the right offer come along. What could such an offer look like, though? According to a report by Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, a mid-round draft pick might be enough for the Patriots to part ways with him.

“He fell behind Milton Williams and Cory Durden in the rotation, and as a result of that, they have listened and talked to other teams about trading him. My understanding is the price would be about a fourth-round pick,” Breer said on a recent appearance on NBC Sports Boston.
“This is a player that very clearly is available, and if somebody’s willing to swing the Patriots a fourth-round pick, I think something could happen.”
Barmore joined the Patriots as a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and has been a core member of their defense ever since. He signed a four-year, $84 million contract extension in 2024 but shortly thereafter was diagnosed with blood clots. After missing virtually the entire 2024 season, he returned to full strength last year.
So far in 2026, however, he has been used in a reduced capacity. Through the first eight weeks of the season, he has been on the field for 43.6% of defensive snaps — a significant decrease from his 65.6% playing time share a year ago. His 14 quarterback pressures are ranked fifth on the team, and his 3.5 sacks second. His $17.1 million salary cap hit is the third-largest on the team.

If the Patriots were to trade Barmore for the speculated mid-round selection, they would not just clear almost $8 million in cap space this year but another $41 million between 2027 and 2028. They also would add capital to what is currently nine selections in the 2027 draft.
