Deepika Padukone is happy with the new maternity return guidelines set by ICC. The actress who is expecting her second child with actor husband Ranveer Singh, has praised the decision. This comes amid the ‘Padmaavat’ actress’ insistence on 8-hour work shift in Bollywood following the birth of her baby girl – Dua Padukone Singh.

Deepika called ICC’s guideline a “landmark moment”. She also went on to hail it for the women in sports. “A landmark moment for women in sport”. The new guidelines lays out framework to ease out the return of female players, cricketing boards, medical professionals, and coaches back to sports smoothly.
Jay Shah on maternity return policy
ICC Chairman, Jay Shah, had spoken about the new guidelines stressing on how players shouldn’t have to choose between playing or motherhood. “The continued growth of women’s cricket must be built on opportunity, inclusion and care for our players at every stage of their lives and careers. No player should have to choose between motherhood and representing her country at the highest level,” he had said.
“The ICC’s Return to Play Post-Pregnancy Guidelines are an important step in creating a more supportive and informed environment across the game. By providing Members with practical guidance, we want to ensure that female cricketers are supported through pregnancy and empowered to return to cricket with confidence,” Shah had added.
It was earlier this year that Deepika and Ranveer had announced their second pregnancy with an adorable post. The couple had welcomed their first child in September 2024. Padukone will next be seen with Shah Rukh Khan in ‘King’ and ‘Raaka’ with Allu Arjun.
