Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith was hit with two fines for his play in Week 8’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. In total, Smith will pony up almost $36,000 for two penalties last Sunday.
One fine was connected to unnecessary roughness for this play, where Smith not only grabbed Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s facemask, but twisted it almost 180 degrees.
The second fine stemmed from unnecessary roughness penalty for a hit on a defenseless player not even a full minute into the game.

Week 8’s fines make three total for Smith during the 2026 season. He was also fined $11,941 for unnecessary roughness stemming from a face mask in Week 2. That’s why Week 8’s fines were almost $18,000 each — because they weren’t the first this season.
No other Ravens players were fined in Week 8. No Bills players were fined for that contest.
The NFL donates half the fines it collects to the NFLPA’s efforts to support retired players, and the other half to the NFL Foundation and organizations supporting youth football programs, community health and wellness, and athlete safety.
