After reportedly drawing interest from a handful of European teams this offseason, free agent shooting guard Tyrese Martin has formally agreed to a one-year contract with Barcelona, the Spanish club announced in a press release.

The 51st overall pick in the 2022 draft, Martin has appeared in a total of 122 NBA regular season games for Atlanta, Brooklyn, and Philadelphia, averaging 6.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 17.7 minutes per contest. The former UConn standout was waived by the Nets at this year’s trade deadline and finished the season on a two-way contract with the 76ers before reaching unrestricted free agency.

Martin, who spent the 2023/24 season in the G League after playing for the Hawks as a rookie, had his best professional season in ’24/25, when he averaged 8.7 PPG, 3.7 RPG, and 2.0 APG in 60 games (11 starts) for the Nets on .406/.351/.793 shooting. The 27-year-old struggled to replicate that success this past season, as his shooting line dipped to .394/.321/.679 and his playing time declined.

Barcelona posted solid regular season records in the EuroLeague (21-17) and Liga ACB (24-10) in 2025/26 and advanced to the finals in Spain’s top league. However, the team fell to Valencia Basket for the domestic championship and was eliminated in the EuroLeague’s play-in tournament, missing the playoffs altogether.

Martin is the second NBA veteran to sign with Barcelona this month, joining Stanley Umude. The former Pistons, Bucks, and Spurs wing recently reached an agreement on a two-year deal with Barça.
