There’s some uncertainty whether first overall pick AJ Dybantsa will be available when the Wizards open the regular season at home against Milwaukee on Wednesday, according to ESPN.
Dybantsa made an early exit from the Wizards’ preseason finale against New Orleans on Friday after rolling his ankle during the second quarter. Wizards coach Brian Keefe described the injury as a minor ankle sprain but Dybantsa will undergo further evaluation.
Dybantsa fell after awkwardly landing on his left ankle following a midrange jump shot, then limped to the locker room. He had scored 12 points in 15 minutes.
The former BYU star has reached double digits in points in all four of his preseason appearances. He’s projected to start at small forward ahead of another former lottery pick, Bilal Coulibaly.
