Tony Romo placed on leave by CBS following arrest on suspicion of OWI

Tony Romo has been placed on leave by CBS Sports “until further notice” following his July 23 arrest in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence.

J.J. Watt will replace Romo during the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback’s absence and work alongside Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson.

Romo, 46, was stopped going southbound on I-43 and “performed poorly on SFSTs (standard field sobriety tests),” according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office’s arrest report.

He has a court date set for Sept. 21.

Romo has been CBS Sports’ lead NFL analyst since 2017 following his retirement from the league. He spent his entire 13-year playing career with the Dallas Cowboys, rising from an undrafted free agent to a four-time Pro Bowl selection and the franchise’s all-time leader in touchdown passes.
