Serena Williams will serve up double duty at Wimbledon.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams has accepted a wild card into the Wimbledon ladies’ singles draw, the tournament announced today.
The 44-year-old Serena already accepted a Wimbledon doubles wild card to partner 46-year-old sister Venus Williams.
Seven-time Wimbledon singles champion Serena Williams will play SW19 for the first time since 2022 when she fell to Harmonie Tan in the opening round. That was Williams’ second straight Wimbledon opening-round exit following her retirement from her 2021 opener while deadlocked with Aliaksandra Sasnovich. Serena Williams last reached the Wimbledon singles final in 2019, bowing to Simona Halep.
Overall, Serena owns a 98-14 career singles record at Wimbledon.
Though she’s only played two grass-court doubles matches this month in preparation for singles and doubles at Wimbledon, Serena said at Queen’s Club competing again feels normal to her.
“I mean, for me it will be. It’s not my responsibility to know what it is for everyone else, and I think that’s the beauty of being an athlete and understanding the importance of honing in and, you know, concentrating,” Serena said. “I feel like once you have been there and you understand that, it doesn’t matter what’s going on in the outside world, as long as you know what you’re there for, and that really helps and makes a huge difference.”
A former singles and doubles world No. 1, Serena launched her comeback 10 days ago at Queen’s Club.

Williams and 19-year-old partner Victoria Mboko defeated third seeds Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe 7-6(2), 6-2 in their Queen’s Club opening match. That dynamic partnership ended after Mboko suffered a knee injury in her singles match against former No. 1 Karolina Pliskova and was forced to retire from Queen’s Club and withdraw from Wimbledon.
Last Tuesday, doubles specialists Erin Routliffe and Giuliana Olmos scored a 6-4, 6-4 sweep of Muchova and Williams in the Berlin Tennis Open opener.
