Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Seattle Seahawks fans and fans across the country
We are nearing the halfway point of the summer, and the 2026 NFL season is fast approaching. During this lull in football action, fans begin speculating on who on their favorite team will lead the team in some of the major statistical areas. One of the more fun stats is sacks. Having that defensive player being able to fly into the backfield and tackle the opposing quarterback several yards behind the line of scrimmage is satisfying to watch as a sports fan. That was the exact question posted in this week’s survey.

Who will be the sack leader of the Seahawks? Let’s take a look at the results!
The fans have spoken, and though it was close, the top spot goes to Derick Hall! With 29% of the fan vote, many 12’s believe that he will lead the team in sacks in 2026, with 28% believing Byron Murphy II will lead the team in sacks.
Both Hall and Murphy had 21 pressures in 2025, with Uchenna Nwosu having 23, Leonard Williams having 29 and DeMarcus Lawrence having 39! Hall had two sacks and Murphy had a three-way tie for most sacks on the team with seven sacks, sharing that top spot with both Williams and Nwosu. Hall had a three-way tie for most quarterback hits with 12, sharing it with Williams and Lawrence. Murphy meanwhile had three, sharing that stat with Jarran Reed, Boye Mafe, and Devon Witherspoon.

Last years defensive stats goes to show that getting after the quarterback was a team effort. It did not matter if you played on the front seven or in the secondary, you had an impact on pressuring the quarterback. Williams, Nwosu, and Lawrence were in the top five of the previously mentioned stat points, but that does not mean that Hall and/or Murphy could not take a step up and break into the top 5 in any of those categories.
Hall recently signed a three-year, $42,000,000 contract extension with the Seahawks. That certainly indicates that the team believes that he can take a step up, and turn some of those pressures and quarterback hits into sacks. With Mafe now with the Cincinnati Bengals, it is now time for Hall to show the team that they made the right choice in extending him, and show the fans who voted in this survey they were right in having faith in him.
The Seahawks did sign Dante Fowler Jr to fill the Mafe role on the team, and Rylie Mills will have had a full offseason and preseason being both healthy and a full participant in trainings. That does not mean that Hall will have any less of a chance to get after the quarterback.
