Earlier this week, the Chicago Bears lost starting safety Coby Bryant to a knee injury that, according to one report, may keep him out for almost two months. Yesterday, they lost cornerback Dallis Flowers and safety Gervarrius Owens to leg injuries, with Flowers landing on season-ending injured reserve earlier today.

To take Flowers’ spot on the offseason roster, the Bears signed veteran safety Xavier Woods, and per CHGO’s Adam Jahns, they also plan to sign defensive back William Wright, who was a UDFA this year from Tennessee. Wright (6′, 190) was originally signed by the Denver Broncos, but was waived in May following their rookie minicamp.

Wright only started one game in his college career, his 45th and final one, but he played all over the Volunteers’ secondary as a reserve. He was also an experienced special teamer who ran a 4.51 forty at his pro day.

Besides Wright, the Bears worked out eight other defensive backs today at Halas Hall: Beanie Bishop, West Virginia; Isaiah Bolden, Jackson State; Brandon Hill, Pittsburgh; Jaylen Mahoney, Vanderbilt; Michael Ojemudia, Iowa; Deantre Prince, Mississippi; Eli Ricks, Alabama; and D.Q. Smith, South Carolina.
