After going undrafted out of Utah State this week, rookie free agent Drake Allen has agreed to sign an Exhibit 10 contract with the Pistons, reports Hunter Patterson of The Athletic (Twitter link).
After playing for two years at Snow College in Utah from 2020-22, Allen spent one season at Southern Utah, one at Utah Valley, and his last two at Utah State. As a full-time starter for the Aggies in 2025/26, the 6’4″ guard averaged 7.9 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.0 rebounds in 25.5 minutes per game, with a shooting line of .466/.325/.619.
While Allen isn’t a dynamic scorer or outside shooter, he’s a solid play-maker, and his calling card is his defense. He led the Mountain West Conference last season with 2.0 steals per game.
An Exhibit 10 contract, which can be signed between July 1 and the last day before the regular season begins, is a non-guaranteed, minimum-salary deal that typically assure of a player of a bonus (up to a projected $91K) if he’s waived and then spends at least 60 days with his team’s G League affiliate.
Exhibit 10s can also be converted to two-way contracts before the season begins, though it’s unclear if Allen will get a shot to compete for a two-way spot or if the Pistons envision him joining the Motor City Cruise as an affiliate player. He’ll join the team for Summer league, notes Patterson.
