After waiving small forward Cole Swider, the Lakers have made a subsequent move, signing free agent guard Jahmir Young to an Exhibit 10 training camp deal, writes Dan Woike of The Athletic (Twitter link). They have also signed New Zealand forward Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones to an Exhibit 10 deal, Olgun Uluc reports for ESPN (via Twitter).
Young, a 26-year-old, 6’0″ point guard, is entering his third season in the NBA. He spent last year with the Heat, playing 58 total minutes over 14 games after playing his rookie season with the Bulls. He played 31 games with the Heat’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, last season, where he averaged 25.9 points, 8.5 assists, 1.8 steals, and 4.8 rebounds on .461/.360/.839 shooting splits.
With the Lakers’ backcourt banged up, Young gives them some added depth to get through the rest of preseason.
Tait-Jones is a 6’6″ forward. The 25-year-old played his final two collegiate seasons at UC San Diego before going undrafted in 2025. He played 30 games for Valmiera Glass VIA in the Estonia-Latvia Basketball League last season, where he started 29 games and averaged 15.9 points and 6.9 rebounds en route to being named the MVP of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League championship.
Both players will be eligible to earn a bonus of up to $91K on top of their base salary should they be waived before the start of the season and spend at least 60 days with the Coachella Valley Lakers in the G League.
