As we detailed on Friday, Peyton Watson‘s new deal with Cleveland means there are only two restricted free agents left on the market: Jalen Duren of the Pistons and Bennedict Mathurin of the Clippers.

However, there’s a much longer list of unrestricted free agents who remain unsigned. Former lottery pick Jonathan Kuminga seems like the best bet of the group to command a fully guaranteed contract, though where he ultimately lands remains to be seen.

There was reportedly mutual interest between the Cavs and Kuminga earlier this summer, but he seems highly unlikely to end up in Cleveland after the team gave up multiple assets in a sign-and-trade to acquire Watson on a four-year, $88MM deal.

The Kings and Timberwolves have been linked to Kuminga too, but both of those teams are cap-strapped and can basically only offer the minimum (or something close to it). That applies to the Hawks as well, the team the 23-year-old ended last season with.

The club that has been most consistently connected to Kuminga is the Lakers, who are facing both a cap and roster crunch. Any type of significant contract for Kuminga would require a sign-and-trade with Atlanta, which has reportedly been underwhelmed by Los Angeles’ offers to this point.

There are also several veteran free agents we haven’t seen much — if any — chatter about, a group that includes Ochai Agbaji, Cam Thomas, Bruce Brown, Seth Curry, Lindy Waters III, Doug McDermott, Jeff Green, Nicolas Batum, Bismack Biyombo and Drew Eubanks, among many others.
