Josh Hart will have to deal with a mangled finger for the rest of his playing career, he revealed on social media via Twitter. The Knicks wing’s right ring finger will need to be taped or wrapped as a necessity.

“Just so I don’t got to answer this question anymore. There is no other surgery for me to get besides a joint replacement,” he wrote. “If I get a joint replacement, I can’t play with it and my career is over. So it will be wrapped until I retire.”

Hart injured the finger during the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals. He underwent a medical procedure to repair his finger, but re-injured it a few months later.

• Miles McBride stated last week he was eager to stay with the Knicks but that he was “a little disappointed” with the lack of progress in extension talks. McBride reiterated his desire to remain with the team long-term as camp opened up, SNY’s Ian Begley tweets. “I love New York… I want to continue my career here … and end my career here,” he said. McBride will be a free agent after the season if he doesn’t sign an extension. Financial constraints could make it difficult for New York to keep him, given that owner James Dolan doesn’t want to exceed the second tax apron.
• Former Knicks big man Julius Randle, traded by Minnesota to the Nets this offseason, was glad that his former teammates won the championship, the New York Post’s Brian Lewis tweets. “I’m happy. I kept in touch with guys. I had a lot of great moments here,” he said. “I spent five years here…So I was excited, happy for those guys…It was a great thing not just for them, for the city…We plan to do the same thing here.”
• Former NBA guard Rajon Rondo visited the Knicks during their first practice on Tuesday. “I got to talk to him, got to really get to know him this summer,” Jalen Brunson said, per Jared Schwartz of the New York Post. “I definitely watched him. He was just so creative and someone who was innovative in the way they play basketball. Definitely an icon when I was younger. So it was really cool to get to know him and his family.”
• Due to the team’s success with this tweak during the playoffs, Karl-Anthony Towns will serve more often as a hub offensively at the elbows and facilitate with the ball in his hands, Schwartz writes. “Obviously playing with KAT at the elbow a little bit more than what we did [in the regular season last year],” coach Mike Brown said. “Being with this group for a year now, you get a better feel of what players can do what. Like I didn’t know if OG (Anunoby) could be as effective as he was in the pick-and-roll game. Same with Mikal (Bridges). So to try to continue to find ways to get those guys involved at the top of the floor is something that we’ll take a look at.”
