As part of a busy morning of transactions, the Knicks have filled their third and final two-way opening by signing free agent guard Jaden Akins to a two-way contract, the team announced in a press release (Twitter link).

Akins will slot in alongside Kevin McCullar Jr. and 2026 second-round pick Tyler Nickel as New York’s two-way players. All three of those two-way spots were open for most of the offseason until the team signed McCullar and Nickel over the weekend.

Akins, 23, went undrafted out of Michigan State in 2025 after making the All-Big Ten third team and All-Defensive team as a senior. The former Spartans star spent his first professional season with the Motor City Cruise in the G League, appearing in 47 games for Detroit’s affiliate and averaging 15.1 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.1 rebounds in 30.8 minutes per game. His shooting line was .420/.351/.841.

After playing for the Knicks’ Summer League team in July, Akins was signed and waived on two separate occasions by New York ahead of training camp, so this will be the third contract he has inked with the team this month. The previous two contracts were Exhibit 10 deals.

The Knicks, who entered the day with a full 21-man training camp roster, waived John Konchar and N’Faly Dante, signed and waived Toby Okani, and have since filled the two openings on their roster by adding Tony Bradley on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 contract and now Akins on a two-way deal. They once again have a full 21-man squad.
