Jeffery Simmons’ summer vacation is starting with a big payday.
The Tennessee Titans have agreed to a three-year extension with the star defensive tackle, the team announced on Friday, June 19. The extension is worth $105.8 million and comes with $100 million guaranteed, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, which makes Simmons the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history.

Simmons has become the face of the franchise in Tennessee during the team’s rebuilding years, establishing himself as one of the game’s best defenders.
The 28-year-old is coming off a season that saw him total 11 sacks, three forced fumbles and 21 quarterback hits. That was enough to earn Simmons a first-team All-Pro selection, his first. Coupled with four Pro Bowls, Simmons is a foundational piece for the Titans and now he’s being paid like one.
Here’s what to know about his new contract.
