Trendon Watford is in “advanced negotiations” to join Valencia Basket in the EuroLeague, sources tell Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews. The former Sixers forward became a free agent in late June when the team declined its $2.8MM option for the 2026/27 season.

Watford signed with Philadelphia last summer after spending two years in Portland and then two more with Brooklyn. He appeared in 53 games last season, making seven starts and averaging 6.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 16.3 minutes per night with .515/.200/.779 shooting numbers.

It will be the first time playing overseas for the former LSU star. Valencia, which compiled the second-best record in the EuroLeague last season, recently added former NBA forward Mouhamadou Gueye to its roster.

• Daniel Theis is nearing a deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv, according to Alessandro Maggi of Sportando. The 34-year-old center had been expected to sign with ASVEL Villeurbanne, but the French team’s financial cutbacks led him to explore other options. Theis has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal worth $2.2MM per season and is awaiting his release from ASVEL. Theis played for six teams in eight NBA seasons before moving on to Europe last year.
• Longtime NBA guard Patty Mills is expected to remain with ASVEL and play for former Spurs teammate Tony Parker despite the club’s economic issues, per Eurohoops. ASVEL is cutting its projected budget by more than half, from 59 million to 24 million euros, causing high-profile players like Theis, Sylvain Francisco and Armoni Brooks to move on to other teams.
• Spurs guard Dylan Harper and Celtics guard Ron Harper Jr. are ineligible to play for the Philippine national team as local players, BasketNews reports. They didn’t get passports before turning 18 and will have to be naturalized to represent the country in international play. However, FIBA rules limit teams to one naturalized player on its 12-man roster for any competition.
