Giannis Antetokounmpo documented his first day with the Heat in a YouTube video, Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald writes in a subscriber-only story. It starts with a message from Antetokounmpo explaining how much he wants to win another championship, then takes viewers inside the Kaseya Center for conversations with players and the coaching staff.

“I think I need this. I really do,” Antetokounmpo tells assistant coach Caron Butler, a former teammate in Milwaukee. “Because I think in life, sometimes when you’re in a comfort zone. I need to wake up new faces, new people that I don’t know. And I think it’s going to bring the best out of me.”

In the exchange, Butler encourages Antetokounmpo, who prefers spending most of the offseason in his native Greece, to “set the tone” for his teammates and arrive in Miami well ahead of the start of training camp in the last week of September. Antetokounmpo promises to do that and says he wants to learn as much as he can about the new system after spending 13 years with the Bucks.

“First of all, I’m doing it for me,” Antetokounmpo tells the coaches. “I want to know what’s going on. I want to know everything, offense, defense. So when the training camp comes, I’m like almost ahead of them. I can talk to them. If I don’t know the offense, I cannot talk to my teammates.”
