The Hornets have announced the signing of free agent guard DJ Armstrong (via Twitter).

Armstrong played last season with UMBC, averaging 16.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 33 games while shooting 46.4% from the field and leading the America East Conference in three-point shooting at 41.9%. He’s the son of former NBA player Darrell Armstrong.

No details were provided on the contract, but it’s likely to be an Exhibit 10 deal that will make Armstrong eligible for a bonus worth up to $91K if he gets waived and spends at least 60 days with the Hornets’ G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm.

Charlotte had an opening on its training camp roster after waiving Bez Mbeng on Sunday.
