Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren is dealing with a groin injury, head coach Shane Steichen confirmed Wednesday.
Warren left practice with an injury but returned to watch the end of the session with teammates, leaving many to wonder how bad the injury was.

While Steichen confirmed that it is a groin injury for the second-year tight end, he did not give any insight into how severe the injury was or if it could sideline Warren for the beginning of the season. The Colts host the Ravens in Week 1.

Warren is expected to have a larger role with Indianapolis this season. The offense will continue to run through, literally, running back Jonathan Taylor, but Warren will be called upon to not only block but also to be a primary target for quarterback Daniel Jones in the passing game.

Warren was drafted with the 14th overall pick in 2025. He played in all 17 games, starting 12. Warren caught 76 of his 112 targets for 817 yards and four touchdowns.
Warren becomes the latest prominent Colts offensive weapon to deal with an injury during training camp. Wide receiver Alec Pierce signed a massive extension in the offseason, but also had offseason surgery on his ankle. Indianapolis is heading into the second week of its preseason, but Pierce has yet to return to the field.
Pierce’s injury played a part in Indianapolis signing free-agent veteran Keenan Allen, who was a free agent. Allen provides even more insurance to the passing game now if Warren happens to miss the start of the regular season.

Allen spent last season with the Chicago Bears. He played in all 17 games and finished with 777 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
It remains to be seen how long Warren will be sidelined. He could miss a few days of practice, or, depending on the severity, the injury could cause him to miss the start of the regular season. For now, it feels like a minor injury, but it is a situation worth monitoring.
