On Saturday, the Indianapolis Colts announced that the team has elevated cornerback Johnathan Edwards and safety Trey Washington from their practice squad ahead of Sunday’s home game against the Dallas Cowboys:
The team also announced that starting rookie safety AJ Haulcy (ankle) has been downgraded to out, with fellow defensive starters: linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither (knee) and slot cornerback Justin Walley (knee) already ruled out for Sunday’s game.

Given the injuries to both Haulcy and Walley, it makes sense as to why both Edwards at cornerback and Washington at safety were added to the Colts’ 53-man active roster. Neither defensive back will fill in as a replacement starter, as that should fall upon Kapena Gushiken and Hunter Wohler respectively.
That being said, both backup defensive backs should provide additional depth and special teams work.
