It was a very big day for the Chicago Bears; they added one of the best defensive tackles in the league, and they’re reportedly closing in on a deal to stay in Illinois.
The Bears have now officially announced the arrival of Jeffery Simmons. The Bears will send to the Titans a 2027 first-round selection, a 2028 first-round selection, and a 2027 fourth-round selection in exchange for Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round selection

“We are excited to welcome Jeffery Simmons and his family to Chicago,” General Manager Ryan Poles said in a team-issued release. “We extend our gratitude to the Tennessee Titans and Mike Borgonzi for their partnership and collaboration throughout this process. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to add a player, and a human, like Jeffery to our team, and we look forward to Jeffery’s leadership and command as we continue to work toward sustained success.”
Bears coach Ben Johnson expressed his endorsement of the move, too.
“Jeffery is one of the most respected players in the National Football League,” Johnson said. “Jeffery has proven to be one of the most impactful run defenders and disruptive pass-rushers in the NFL, and yet, through his leadership, Jeffery will have the opportunity to create a positive impact across our entire team. We look forward to the work ahead.”
The move shows that the Bears are ready to make a run at a Super Bowl berth — 20 years after their last NFC Championship and 41 years after their only Super Bowl win.
