Current NBA players Brook Lopez (Clippers), Khris Middleton (Wizards), and Jalen Suggs (Magic) are among the individiuals who will serve as coaches at a Basketball Without Borders Next Up camp in Istanbul, Türkiye later this month, the league announced in a press release.

Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson and former NBA players Vlade Divac and Danilo Gallinari will also be involved in guiding 80 top international high-school age prospects through the event, which will include “athletic testing, movement efficiency, skill development stations, 3-on-3 competitions, life-skills seminars, and 5-on-5 games.”

• Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report checks in on several of the top free agents left on the open market, exploring why Jonathan Kuminga, DeMar DeRozan, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden are still unsigned and when – and how – that might change. Pincus also takes a look at the three remaining restricted free agents, suggesting that the most likely outcome for Jalen Duren, Peyton Watson, and Bennedict Mathurin is returning to their respective teams. Of the three, Pincus views Mathurin as the best candidate to relocate.
• Federal prosecutors have accused Deniro Laster – a childhood friend and co-defendant of Terry Rozier in the ongoing NBA gambling case – of attempting to tamper with a witness, according to Tom Schad of ESPN. Those prosecutors have alleged that Laster has attempted to contact his co-defendants directly and through intermediaries and that he has posted rat emojis on Instagram at least twice with intent to intimidate, arguing that he has “repeatedly and flagrantly violated the conditions of his release.” They’ve asked a judge to revoke his bond and hold him custody until the trial, which is scheduled to begin on February 8.
• The NBA’s schedule release for the 2026/27 season isn’t far off. According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line (Twitter link), the expectation is that the league will reveal its regular season schedule at some point next week.
