Alka Yagnik’s frail health as she attended the Padma Bhushan Awards 2026 left her fans and well wishers concerned. The veteran singer was accompanied by a nurse and found to have needed support in walking. The ‘Pehla Nasha’ singer who has given Bollywood a number of memorable and melodious songs was conferred the award for her contribution towards Indian music by the President Droupadi Murmu.
After social media was filled with concerns about her health, the ‘Agar Tum Saath Ho’ singer spoke about her ill health. Alka took to social media and wrote, “For the last two years, I have stayed away from the spotlight, from public appearances, and from sharing much of my journey. Many of you knew I am going through difficult health and through it all, your love, prayers, messages, and unwavering support have stayed with me every step of the way.”
Finding way back
Alka also expressed gratitude on receiving the highest civilian award of the country and felt proud to share it with her audience and fans who have showered her with love and support over the years. Amid ill health, she also spoke about “finding way back” for everyone who has stood by her throughout her journey.
“This moment feels especially meaningful because it marks not just a recognition of my work, but a reminder of the strength that comes from love, hope, and resilience. I am slowly finding my way back, and I wanted to be here today – not only for myself, but for each and every one of you who have been a part of this journey,” she wrote.
