The Los Angeles Rams made cornerback Trent McDuffie inactive for Week 9’s game against the Washington Commanders, meaning that L.A. will have to wait at least another week before reuniting their two star offseason trade acquisitions. Although the Rams are getting back edge rusher Myles Garrett against the Commanders, McDuffie will miss his second game with a back injury.
The two star defensive players have not taken the field at the same time since L.A.’s 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. The Rams will get past the trade deadline having only gotten one game with both Garrett and McDuffie on the field together.
McDuffie has been one of the top corners in the league, allowing a passer rating against of 17.7 according to Pro-Football-Reference’s charting. The Rams may have felt somewhat easier being cautious with McDuffie because of Washington’s lack of talent at receiver. L.A. is already without cornerback Jaylen Watson, who was placed on season-ending IR this week.

Other inactives on Sunday include Ty Simpson and Keagen Trost, two of their drafted rookies. The active drafted rookies on the roster are Max Klare and C.J. Daniels.
The Rams expected to activate Terrance Ferguson this week, but then it didn’t end up happening. Still, fans should not expect to see Klare play many offensive snaps, if any. Daniels could be in a position to step up with Davante Adams injured and no other receivers showing much in his absence besides obviously star Puka Nacua, of course.
