Samay Raina on Sunday dropped yet another banger of an episode of India’s Got Latent, and this one was filled with candid punchlines, slurs, and unfiltered one-liners. The panel featured Samay Raina, Tanmay Bhat, MC Stan, Madhur Virli and Arpit Bala.
The punches in this episode reminded fans of Season 1, as it featured several controversial and political jokes. The highlight of the episode was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s act by Rahil, a contestant who introduced himself as ‘Odi Ji’ and performed an act impersonating the Prime Minister on India’s Got Latent.
Following his performance, host Samay Raina video-called comedian Kunal Kamra, giving Rahil another opportunity to continue his Modi impression and engage in a humorous exchange with the comedian.
During the act, Rahil said, “Rupiya gir gaya. But koi baat nahi, bhaiyon, agar rupiya gira hai na, isko uthane wala bhi main hi hoon” (The rupee has fallen. But that’s okay, brothers, if the rupee has fallen, I am the one who will lift it up.)
Samay Raina video-called Kunal Kamra and the panel. During their exchange, Kunal Kamra responded, “Ye sab kuch nahi hone wala hai. Bhram mat paalo” (None of this is going to work. Don’t live under an illusion).
Rahil quickly replied, “Ye kya WhatsApp ka chutkula utha liya tha?” (What was this, have you picked up a WhatsApp joke?).
The exchange did not end there. Kamra addressed Rahil, saying, “My friend, kya karta hai tu? Comedy?” (My friend, what do you do? Comedy?).
Samay then jumped in with a warning to the comedian, saying, “Kunal Bhai, stop. Otherwise, the cyber cell will come after both of us.”
When Kamra began speaking to him respectfully, Rahil responded with another quip: “Abhi sir pe kaise aaya?” (How did you suddenly start addressing me as ‘sir’?).
Meanwhile, a Reddit post claimed that Samay had edited out several one-liners and jokes from the set to avoid any action against the episode.
The Reddit user wrote, “That Modi guy really cooked Kamra for 5 minutes. Samay edited out most of the parts where Kamra asked him what Modi had even done, and the guy replied, “The one who called you (Samay) got his home back in Kashmir. Kashmir is doing way better. Ask Samay what Modi did. People started clapping. When Kamra called Modi a dictator, the guy said, “You’re still not jailed and living a happy life. That’s a dictator for you. Samay stood up and clapped. I don’t know why they edited this part out. :(“
Rahil took to Instagram and shared videos and photos from the act.
