Watch out for Malachi Fields.
There’s a reason the Giants had him on their radar early in this year’s draft.
GM Joe Schoen waited as long as he could before having to make an aggressive move to trade up and select him in the third round out of Notre Dame.

Big Blue has had nothing but positive things to say about the big-bodied receiver since, and he appears set to play a huge role for them during his rookie campaign.
Fields adds a completely different element to New York’s offense.
Standing at 6-foot-4, he remains the tallest player in their receiver room, and he brings a unique blend of athleticism and ball skills for this team.
It didn’t take long for Fields to put that on display in camp and preseason action.
He used his size and strength to his advantage to high-point a touchdown from Jaxson Dart for one of his three receptions in the preseason opener against the Vikings.

The 23-year-old racked up even more reps with the first-team offense from there, only continuing to free climb his way up Big Blue’s depth chart.
He would see just eight more offensive snaps over the last two preseason games, and reports have indicated he’s penciled in as the WR2 to begin the year.
Slotting in Fields alongside Malik Nabers could be huge for this offense.
While his numbers were down a bit last season with the Irish, he still showed that tremendous ability at stretching the field, averaging a career-best 17.5 yards per reception.
As Schoen put it shortly after the pick, New York has their “power forward.”

He’s also proven to be extremely willing and capable with his blocking, which is something this staff has put an emphasis on with them being a run-first offense.
Nabers will always be the go-to guy, but with his size and contested-catch abilities, Fields could quickly establish himself as another nice weapon for this group.
