He was an undrafted free-agent signee by the Buffalo Bills after the 2025 NFL Draft and is now back on the roster after being released in late July.
Former Yale and New Hampshire do-everything safety Wande Owens was re-signed by the team one day before the preseason opener against the Panthers inside the new Highmark Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
I wrote about my fascination with Owens in May, because I loved his film so much when I evaluated him as a draft prospect and also because he tested as an insane athlete before the 2025 draft.

40-Yard Dash: 4.58 seconds (41st percentile)
10-Yard Split: 1.53 seconds (69th)
Vertical: 43 inches (98th)
Broad Jump: 135 inches (97th)
Three-Done: 6.99 seconds (53rd)
Short-Shuttle: 4.05 seconds (87th)”
Interestingly, he’s back again after spending 2025 with Buffalo on IR with an undisclosed injury suffered during the preseason. My guess — his athleticism is simply too tantalizing for the Bills to totally pass on him as a developmental project.
He played safety, nickel defender, and linebacker during an illustrious career.
We’ll see if he sees the field in preseason after not being with the team for the bulk of training camp.
