The Cleveland Cavaliers are heading to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since the LeBron James era.

The Cavaliers outmuscled the No. 1 seed Detroit Pistons in Game 7 of their second-round series on the way to a 125-94 rout at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday night.

They will play the New York Knicks for a shot at their first Finals appearance since 2018.

Seeing diminishing returns from all-star centre Jalen Duren in the post-season, the Pistons frontcourt was outmatched by the Cavaliers’ big-man duo of Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley.

Allen scored an efficient 23 points and grabbed seven boards while Mobley had 21 points and 12 rebounds. All told, Cleveland was plus-17 on the glass.

Cade Cunningham ground his way downhill on drives but found little success, shooting 5-of-16 for 13 points and making three turnovers.

Game 1 of the East Finals between the Knicks and Cavaliers is on Tuesday.
