Jannik Sinner’s North American hard-court swing shrunk again today.

World No. 1 Sinner withdrew from the Cincinnati Open today citing a right knee injury. It’s the second straight ATP Masters 1000 withdrawal for Sinner, who pulled out of Montreal.

The 24-year-old Italian has not played since his four-set win over Alexander Zverev in last month’s Wimbledon final as he nurses a nagging right knee issue.

Sinner, the 2025 Cincinnati finalist, joins 2025 Cincinnati champion Carlos Alcaraz in pulling out of the Cincinnati Open.

Reigning US Open champion Alcaraz is continuing his recovery from a right wrist injury that has sidelined him more than 115 days, since his last match at the Barcelona Open in April.

Australian Open champion Alcaraz and Sinner, who has posted a 44-3 record this season, are both trying to give themselves maximum recovery time for what could be a physical and frenetic Flushing Meadows fortnight. New York City has been gripped by sweltering conditions this month, which will pose another physical test should the heat and humidity persist for the US Open.

The question is: Will Sinner and Alcaraz be able to post in New York City?

In October, both Sinner and Alcaraz are entered in the lucrative Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, a major payday neither champion will want to miss.
