The Timberwolves recently showed interest in Bulls guard Josh Giddey, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, confirming a previous report from Darren Wolfson.
The Suns are another team that has done background work on Giddey, league sources tell HoopsHype. Based on Scotto’s wording, it’s unclear if Phoenix has actually inquired about Giddey’s availability.
Here’s more from Scotto on the Timberwolves:
- Minnesota is reportedly “very motivated” to re-sign Ayo Dosunmu and is said to be negotiating a new contract for the free agent guard. What could a new deal look like? Rival executives project the 26-year-old to receive a deal in the range of $18-24MM per year, according to Scotto.
- The Wolves have explored the trade values of Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and the 28th overall pick in this week’s draft as they continue to scour the market for roster upgrades, sources tell Scotto.
- While Jaden McDaniels has drawn plenty of interest from rival teams in the past, the Timberwolves have shut down those inquiries unless it involved a superstar player like Giannis Antetokounmpo or Nikola Jokic, Scotto reports. Early in 2025/26 when the Clippers were struggling amid a 6-21 start, the team weighed trade offers for Kawhi Leonard and James Harden and “poked around” to see if McDaniels might be available, but the Wolves made it clear he wasn’t, according to Scotto.
