AJ Dybantsa was ruled out for the Washington Wizards against the Raptors on Friday (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT) with a left ankle sprain, the team announced on Thursday.
Dybantsa also missed the Wizards’ home opener against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday with the same injury.
The 19-year-old became Washington’s first first-overall pick since John Wall in 2010 when he was selected out of BYU in June.
He made four appearances in the pre-season, averaging 12.8 points 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 21.7 minutes on a not-so-efficient 50.8 per cent true shooting.
Dybantsa suffered the injury in Washington’s exhibition finale on Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans, twisting his left ankle in the second quarter before exiting.
The Wizards fared well despite their new phenom’s absence, beating the Bucks 128-116 to open their season.
