Forward AJ Dybantsa, the team’s first-overall pick from the 2026 Draft, will make his debut Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team announced after the morning shootaround.
Dybantsa has been sidelined in the early going of the season while recovering from a left ankle sprain. He has missed the team’s first four games of the year, with the Wizards going 2-2 in his absence.
The 19-year-old became Washington’s first No. 1 pick since John Wall in 2010, when he was selected out of BYU in June.
He made four appearances in the pre-season, averaging 12.8 points 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 21.7 minutes on a not-so-efficient 50.8 per cent true shooting.
Dybantsa suffered the injury in Washington’s exhibition finale on Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans, twisting his left ankle in the second quarter before exiting.
