The Warriors have opted not to match the Grizzlies‘ offer sheet for restricted free agent center Quinten Post, according to Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of ESPN. As a result of the decision, Post will officially join the Grizzlies.
Memphis signed Post to a three-year, $30MM offer sheet on Monday just before the July moratorium ended, giving the Warriors a little over 36 hours to decide whether or not to match.
Post’s deal is reportedly only guaranteed for the first year, with a $9MM base salary for 2026/27. However, it also includes annual bonuses – including $1.35MM in year one – that the big man can earn if he makes an All-Defensive team.
While those incentives are considered unlikely and don’t count against the salary cap, they do still count toward a team’s apron salary, which made the deal slightly more unpalatable from the Warriors’ perspective as they navigate a probable second-apron hard cap.
The last two years of Post’s deal feature a non-guaranteed $8.5MM annual base salary, with $1.28MM in annual unlikely bonuses.
Post developed into a reliable backup big man and part-time starter for the Warriors after being selected with the 52nd pick in the 2024 draft. In 67 games (35 starts) in 2025/26, he averaged 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in 17.3 minutes per night while shooting 44% from the field and 33.6% from three-point range.
The Warriors issued Post a qualifying offer worth roughly $2.6MM to make him a restricted free agent and hoped to bring him back, per ESPN, but deemed the Grizzlies’ offer too steep for their liking. In Memphis, the third-year big man will join a revamped frontcourt that features first-round picks Cameron Boozer and Karim Lopez and trade addition Isaiah Stewart joining incumbent center Zach Edey.
According to ESPN, Post’s offer sheet is the first one worth at least $5MM per year that has gone unmatched since Bogdan Bogdanovic left Sacramento for Atlanta in 2020.
