The Los Angeles Chargers are hoping for their offensive line to improve going into the 2026 season.

Having Rashaun Slater and Joe Alt return from injury to book in the offensive line will be crucial, but they also need some upgrades on the interior. NFL.com contributor Grant Gordon believes the team could sign former first-round pick Kevin Zeitler in free agency.

“L.A. will have new starters at guard — either rookie Jake Slaughter, converting from center, free-agent signees Cole Strange or Kayode Awosika, or the roller coaster that is Trevor Penning. After overwhelming injury woes along the O-line a season ago, the Bolts know the importance of depth, and Zeitler could be a starting upgrade. Fourteen seasons in, Zeitler is a plus-option mercenary who’s started double-digit games every year he’s played and was a Pro Bowler for the Ravens just three years ago. The Chargers like ex-Ravens players and former first-rounders on the line,” Gordon wrote.

Zeitler, 36, spent his first five years with the Cincinnati Bengals after being selected with the 27th overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. He bounced around after that, playing with the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions and last season with the Tennessee Titans.

Zeitler’s experience could give the Chargers some insurance on the offensive line in case one of their players gets injured or doesn’t pan out as well as they had hoped.
