The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to take on the New Orleans Saints in Paris on Sunday, and through six weeks, the Steelers defense is pushing to be a top-five unit in the NFL. So far, Pittsburgh is sixth in defensive EPA/play at -0.10. A deeper look confirms that number: the defense has allowed a success rate of 42.43% with an EPA/pass of -0.14 and EPA/rush of -0.05.
As good as the defense has played, Sunday presents an opportunity for the offense to get back on track. The Saints defense is 27th in the NFL, allowing 0.04 EPA/play, 0.04 EPA/rush, and 0.05 EPA/pass. Another week of integration for Germie Bernard will be important, and the Saints’ secondary is an advantage the offense must exploit.

The Steelers need a win to keep pace in the division, but more importantly, the offense can start to get into a rhythm moving forward. It’s up to them to execute.
