The Pittsburgh Steelers have won three straight games and, through seven weeks, have a record of 5-2, which is good for a tie for first place, but a second-place spot based on tiebreakers with the Cleveland Browns. The next two games are against AFC North opponents, with Cleveland and Cincinnati on the schedule. The best-case scenario is winning both games.
The NFL media is whispering about the Steelers’ five-game win start and wondering if this is real and sustainable. The idea that the Steelers have been in tough games with perceived “inferior” opponents signaling weakness is a flawed argument. Wins are wins. This isn’t college football.

The Steelers defense is tough. The offense has playmakers and does enough to win games. Playing complementary football shouldn’t be perceived as a weakness. Winning in the NFL is hard, and the league is as parity-driven as it has been in years. Keep winning games and let analysts and pundits doubt. It’s always better to almost lose than to almost win.
Here is Tuesday’s Three Rivers Report.
Could the Steelers head coach push his way into Coach of the Year discussions?
