The Spurs have signed free agent forward Terry Taylor to a non-guaranteed training camp contract, tweets Paul Garcia of The Spot Up Shot. San Antonio’s roster is back to the preseason maximum of 21 players after the team waived former North Carolina guard RJ Davis on Tuesday.
Taylor has four years of NBA service under his belt, having appeared in 98 total regular season games for Indiana, Chicago, and Sacramento from 2022-25. The 27-year-old holds career averages of 4.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12.0 minutes per night.
Taylor’s most recent NBA stint came during the second half of the 2024/25 season, when he signed a 10-day contract with Sacramento. The 6’5″ forward spent most of last season with the Brisbane Bullets in Australia’s National Basketball League before returning stateside and joining the Iowa Wolves for the end of the G League season. He also suited up for Team USA in the first of two World Cup qualifying windows during the 2026 offseason.
Taylor’s returning rights were sent from Iowa to the Austin Spurs, San Antonio’s affiliate, in an August trade, so it’s a safe bet that he’ll be waived before the regular season begins and will report to Austin. Assuming he signed an Exhibit 10 contract, which is a near certainty, he’ll be in line for a bonus worth up to $91K on top of his base G League salary if he spends at least 60 days in the NBAGL.
Meanwhile, the Kings have also completed a non-guaranteed camp deal, re-signing center Viktor Lakhin to an Exhibit 10 deal after having waived him earlier this month, tweets Keith Smith of Spotrac.
The Stockton Kings acquired Lakhin’s G League rights in the same six-team deal that sent Taylor’s rights to Austin, so it looked like the plan was for him to become a returning-rights player for Stockton this fall and earn a $91K bonus in the process.
However, Sacramento’s frontcourt has been decimated by injuries since Lakhin was cut. Both Maxime Raynaud and Dylan Cardwell have been ruled out for multiple weeks due to knee and calf injuries, respectively, while Precious Achiuwa exited Tuesday’s preseason game early due to a right ankle injury (Twitter link via James Ham of The Kings Beat). With the Kings in need of depth in the middle, Lakhin could have an opportunity to claim the club’s open two-way contract slot to begin the regular season.
Lakhin, who went undrafted out of Clemson in 2025, averaged 10.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in 31 NBAGL outings for the Oklahoma City Blue last season.
