The Spurs plan to re-sign Jordan McLaughlin to a new one-year contract, agent Greg Lawrence tells Shams Charania of ESPN (Twitter link).
The veteran point guard will be on a minimum-salary deal, which will pay him $3.29MM in 2026/27. San Antonio’s cap hit will be $2.45MM.
After four years of college basketball at USC, McLaughlin went undrafted in 2018 and spent his first professional season in the G League with Brooklyn’s affiliate team. He signed a two-way deal with Minnesota in the 2019 offseason and proceeded to spend his first five NBA seasons with the Timberwolves.
McLaughlin, 30, signed with Sacramento in the summer of 2024 but was traded to San Antonio in February 2025 as part of the De’Aaron Fox blockbuster. He re-signed with the Spurs last summer and will return to the club again in 2026/27.
While the Spurs clearly value McLaughlin, his on-court contributions have been quite modest. He appeared in 44 regular season contests in ’25/26, averaging 2.0 points and 0.9 assists in 6.4 minutes per game. The 5’11” guard is known for his ball-handling skills and ability to take care of the basketball — his career assist-to-turnover ratio is 4.2-to-1.
