A new Skechers shoe store is scheduled to open in the Four Flaggs Shopping Center as early as next week, filling a vacancy left by the nationwide closure of Party City.
The 12,225-square-foot store at 9471 N. Milwaukee Ave. is targeting a Wednesday, May 8, opening, according to Jennifer Clay, Skechers vice president of corporate communications and marketing.
“It is what we call a Big Beautiful Store, in a large footprint,” Clay said, though she noted that opening dates can shift slightly.
The store recently cleared its final regulatory hurdles. Deputy Village Manager Katie Schneider said the Community Development Department has issued a certificate of occupancy after the project passed all inspections.
The general contractor turned the site over to the company Friday. Skechers staff now have about two weeks to merchandise the sales floor before welcoming customers.
The storefront was previously occupied by Party City, which shuttered its locations last year following bankruptcy proceedings.
