Former second-round pick Rayan Rupert, who reached unrestricted free agency earlier this week, has agreed to sign a two-way contract with the Sixers, reports Shams Charania of ESPN (Twitter link).
Rupert, 22, spent the first two-and-a-half years of his NBA career in Portland after being drafted 43th overall in 2023, then caught on with the Grizzlies during the second half of 2025/26 after being waived by the Trail Blazers. The 6’7″ swingman never played a significant role in Portland, averaging 3.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in 12.0 minutes per game across 139 total outings.
Rupert got a chance to play big minutes for an injury-plagued Memphis team down the stretch this spring, appearing in 16 games (eight starts) and averaging 12.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 steals in 30.9 minutes per night. While he was productive for the Grizzlies, the Frenchman struggled to stay out of foul trouble, averaging a whopping four fouls per contest.
Although Rupert was eligible for a two-way qualifying offer from the Grizzlies, Memphis passed on that QO, making him an unrestricted free agent. His new deal with the Sixers will be for one year, since he only has one season of two-way eligibility remaining.
All three of Philadelphia’s two-way slots are currently open and the Sixers don’t have a two-way qualifying offer out to any free agents, so they still have some flexibility to fill their remaining two openings alongside Rupert.
