Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold (hip, glute) is nursing what the team is referring to as a “very unique soft-tissue” injury, and he is not expected to be sidelined for the long term.
The team told local reporters Monday that Darnold’s hip joint is not affected, and it is more in the area of his right glute. He is still expected to miss the Week 2 game against the Arizona Cardinals, so quarterback Drew Lock would start. Quarterback Jalen Milroe is likely to slide up from being the emergency quarterback to the primary backup.

Why it Matters: Darnold was limited to just five plays in Week 1 against the New England Patriots. Lock came on and led the team to a win in a Super Bowl LX rematch. Despite the win, he is only recommended as a low-end QB2 despite the presence of defending Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
