The New York Giants have placed defensive lineman Chauncey Golston on the injured reserve with a neck injury.
Golston suffered the injury in the Giants’ win over the Arizona Cardinals. While Golston and the Giants sought a second opinion during the week, the fear had been that Golston’s neck injury would be a “long term” injury. He’s emerged as a key contributor along the Giants’ defensive line, playing on both base downs and as a part of the Giants’ pass rush packages.

The Giants signed defensive lineman Jihad Ward off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad last week, and placing Golston on the injured reserve will likely lead to his debut for the Giants. This is Ward’s second stint with the Giants, and he is familiar with Dennard Wilson after spending the 2025 season on the Tennessee Titans’ defense. Ward had a career year under Wilson with 31 total tackles, 4 for a loss, 5.0 sacks, 22 quarterback hits, and 4 passes defensed.
The Giants are also elevating receiver/returner Dalen Cambre as well as OLB Trace Ford.
Cambre is a fan favorite for his work over the last two preseasons, as well as a needed piece given the Giants’ shallow receiver depth chart and emphasis on special teams. Ford will help reinforce a Giants’ front seven that is thin following the injury to Brian Burns.
