The Minnesota Timberwolves star will play in Game 1 against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 9:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. PT) barring pre-game setbacks, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.
Edwards, who sustained a left knee hyperextension in Game 4 of Minnesota’s first-round win over the Denver Nuggets, had been expected to miss more time after he was absent for the final two games of that series.
However, he sped up his return through multiple treatments including hyperbaric chamber sessions, per Charania.
Aside from his five points in 17 minutes of Game 4 before his injury, Edwards was averaging 23 points, eight rebounds, four assists and 1.7 blocks in the first three games of the opening round.
The four-time all-star averaged 28.8 points, five rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 61 regular-season appearances.
Minnesota will need Edwards’ scoring punch against the Spurs’ No. 3-ranked defence, especially after losing starting guard Donte DiVincenzo to injury for the rest of the playoffs.
