The guard intends to sign a four-year, $48-million deal to return to the Suns, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Saturday.
Gillespie has been playing on two-way deals for the last three seasons since going undrafted out of Villanova in 2022. He spent his rookie year with the Denver Nuggets, but the past two campaigns with the Suns.
The 26-year-old broke out in 2025-26 while appearing in a career-high 80 games for Phoenix. He averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists while shooting 41.8 per cent from the field and 40.1 per cent from three.
Gillespie set the Suns franchise record for three-pointers in a season with 232.
Gillespie also performed well in the playoffs despite the Suns being swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in Round 1. He started in three of the four games, averaging 10.5 points and 3.8 assists with a 40 per cent clip from deep.
