Ravens Discussion: Which roster cut was the biggest surprise?

The Baltimore Ravens finalized their initial 53-man roster on Sunday following several highly competitive positional battles throughout the summer. The Ravens were faced with some difficult decisions to cut ties with certain players and gauge the short-term and long-term ramifications of which players to keep. As always, this process did not conclude without some controversial results.

The most surprising cut to me was any of the offensive lineman not named Andrew Vorhees. Gerard Litchenhan and Diego Pounds absolutely outplayed him this preseason and Corey Bullock offered more versatility as a center/guard player. It looks like Vorhees starting experience won him the role. I just hope it’s not a move the Ravens come to regret if he’s needed in a game after his performance last year. — Zach Canter

I can’t say that any of the cuts particularly surprised me, but I guess I would go with Rayshaun Benny if I had to pick one. The defensive line room was simply too crowded this offseason, and choosing Peebles over Benny was the right decision in my opinion, but it is still unfortunate to see a rookie draft pick be released, especially after a solid preseason showing. Hopefully Benny will make his back to Baltimore’s practice squad, where he can continue to develop and be ready if the Ravens need an extra man on the defensive line at any point this season. — Dustin Cox

The most surprising roster cut to me is offensive lineman Corey Bullock. Bullock was thought to be a legitimate candidate to compete for the starting center role this year but was hampered by an injury early in training camp, which set him back in the pecking order. He evidently didn’t do enough in recent joint practices and preseason games to retain his spot on the roster, after emerging as the team’s backup center last year. While he’s not a polished player and the Ravens don’t have draft capital invested in him, I am surprised they parted ways with Bullock instead of Andrew Vorhees. Bullock was performed better than the latter and possesses guard/center versatility that the Ravens usually covet. He was a nice story in 2025 as an undrafted prospect, locally out of Maryland, as well. — Frank Platko
