Star Los Angeles Rams wideout Puka Nacua is in line to earn a massive extension. His first three years in the NFL have been nothing short of special, though not without some notable bumps along the way. Rams fans were asked when the team should extend Nacua, and responses varied across the board.
A decent chunk of Rams fans (37%) want Nacua to be extended before the season. It makes sense, especially with him coming off an All-Pro campaign for the second time in his career, this time with first-team honors. Additionally, the Seahawks’ Jaxson Smith-Njigba, the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, received a $168 million extension in March, so he’ll be the one to top, should LA go that route.
Meaning, if LA continues to play the waiting game on extending Nacua, it will cost them. However, enough fans would be perfectly fine if the team’s front office took that approach. Nineteen percent of fans want Les Snead and company to franchise tag him next offseason, while 15% want the organization to wait until next year.

Given the controversies that have followed Nacua throughout the end of last season and earlier in the offseason, the hesitancy is warranted. One Rams fan who participated in the survey wants Nacua re-signed, but on a performance basis, depending on whether he has another great year.

Enough fans want the headache to end entirely, as 15% want him traded next year. That would be a major risk regardless. Should he have another All-Pro campaign, would he still be worth trading away, even if he keeps his nose clean? Plus, if the Rams did trade him away, his replacement might not post anywhere close to the same production. It’s a crapshoot either way.
A second fan, though, was looking ahead to the future, post-Matthew Stafford. Not only did they question whether Nacua could produce at the same level after receiving an extension, but also whether he’ll have similar chemistry with likely successor Ty Simpson.
