The New York Jets are on the road in Kansas City, Missouri to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Jets’ ninth game of the 2026 season this Sunday. The Jets will be looking to get back on the winning track after dropping six of their last seven games.
These two teams last met in a 23 – 20 Chiefs victory in 2023. The Chiefs have won four of the last five games between these two teams. Prior to that the Jets had won five of seven. The Chiefs lead the overall series 21 – 19 – 1.

The Chiefs opened the 2026 season with a bang, reeling off five straight victories, primarily against weak opponents. They opened with a convincing win over the Denver Broncos before reeling off wins against NFL doormats like the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers, along with their division rival Las Vegas Raiders. The schedule got a lot more difficult and the Chiefs wilted, losing to the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos over the last two weeks, bringing the Chiefs’ record to 5-2 on the season. The Chiefs are riding a two game losing streak, while the Jets have lost three straight coming into this game.
Let’s make a few predictions for the game on Sunday.
Kenneth Walker shreds the Jets’ struggling run defense. Walker runs for 125+ yards and the Chiefs rack up 170+ yards on the ground and 2+ touchdowns.
Patrick Mahomes has his way against a vulnerable Jets secondary. Mahomes puts up 270+ passing yards and 2+ touchdowns.
After dominating over the last five weeks, the Jets foolishly put Braelon Allen right back in the backup role as Breece Hall regains the starting job in his first game back from an injury that cost Hall five games. Hall gets 65+% of the snaps but does little with them, finishing with less than 50 yards from scrimmage. Hall and Allen combine for less than 90 yards from scrimmage.
Taking advantage of Garrett Wilson’s absence, Omar Cooper, after being shutout last week, leads all Jets receivers with 80+ receiving yards and a touchdown.
Geno Smith, forced to play from behind all game and without much of a ground game, is pressured into 2+ turnovers, including at least 1 interception for the fourth straight week.
The Chiefs never trail in the game and cruise to a double digit victory against a Jets team outgunned and outcoached.
