Hawks forward Mouhamed Gueye fractured his left foot on Wednesday and subsequently underwent surgery to repair the injury, writes Lauren L. Williams of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (Twitter link). He will be re-evaluated in three to four months.
Gueye played 77 games for Atlanta last season, including eight starts, as well as playing in all six of Atlanta’s first-round matchups against the Knicks, serving as the team’s primary back-up center while Jock Landale was out with injury.
The 6’11” 23-year-old averaged 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game during the season, his third in the league.
Gueye sustained the injury during a workout, Williams notes (Twitter link). An MRI and evaluation revealed the extent of the injury. This timeline indicates that Gueye is likely to miss the entire offseason and possibly the start of the season as well.
