Three Top 20 ATP players announced coaching changes after Wimbledon. Among them was former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev.
Daniil Medvedev has parted ways with Thomas Johansson, his coach of a year. Medvedev, who hired Johansson after he ended an eight-year partnership with Gilles Cervara after last year’s US Open, has gone 7-7 at the Grand Slams since the start of 2025.
“Thank you @tompatennis for the great work,” World No.9 Medvedev wrote on his Instagram Stories. “It’s been a pleasure working with you and I appreciate all you have done.”
With Johansson, Medvedev’s game started to come around, even if not at the majors. He captured titles in Almaty, Brisbane and Dubai with the Swede and also reached the final at Indian Wells and the semi-finals in Rome.
Johansson shared the news on his Instagram story Saturday, saing “After almost one year working together, Daniil and I have decided to part ways. I want to thank Daniil for his trust and his hard work during this time and I wish him and his team all the best for the future.

The former World No.1 isn’t one of three ATP players that announced coaching changes after Wimbledon. Felix Auger-Aliassime has parted ways with his longtime coach Frederic Fontang, while Jiri Lehecka did the same with his longtime coach Michal Navratil.
“When I look back, I see eight years filled with hard work, sacrifices, victories, and defeats. Every single one of them had its purpose,” Lehecka posted on his Instagram. “Thank you, Michal, for being such an important part of this journey. For your support, honesty, toughness, and for believing in me, especially during the moments when things weren’t easy.
“Our journey together ends here. I’m truly grateful for everything we’ve built together.”
14th-ranked Lehecka is 20-12 on the season – he reached his first Masters final in April at the Miami Open.
